I don't know about you, but i don't think i've ever been so excited to wear black. Yes yes, it's a staple in any woman's closet. However THIS season, it seems new, sleek, dark, goth, slick, tough, hard... you get the idea.
After a while you learn the subtle difference Between holding a hand and chaining a soul,
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning And company doesn't mean security,
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts And presents aren't promises
And you begin to accept your defeats With your head up and your eyes open,
With the grace of a woman, Not the grief of a child
And you learn to build all your roads on today, Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After awhile you learn that even sunshine Burns if you get too much
So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, In stead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers
And you learn that you really can endure... That you really are strong And you really do have worth, and you learn and learn... With every good bye you learn.
My fall/winter list continues. Am on the lookout for a pair of pony skin leopard printed shoes.... Might have to pop into Zara as the Giuseppe Zanotti's are now out of my league after a week in London!
I came across this picture of Candice Bushnell's home in Elle Decor. The moroccan poufs reminded me of my gracious friend that lent me her flat last week in Notting Hill. Although very pretty and something that i can admire, i'm not sure the poufs would fare well with my 70's teak furniture, collection of crystal and skulls. Then again, it's all about mixing the unexpected... right?!
V and I had the pleasure of going to see Miike Snow and Lykke Li last night. Didn't know much about Mr. Snow, but was instantly mesmerized by his stage presence, not to mention amazing voice. Lykke lived up to every single expectation i had of her AND more. She's a saucy little minx that one! If you have the change to see either, GO. What i wasn't so impressed with was the drunk girl that spilled her can of beer all over my studded motorcycle jacket - doh!
On the theme of studs, it should be mentioned that i will be picking up basically everything i can get my hands on that falls into this category (and no i will not wear it all at the same time because that would incur ALOT of sweating and that's just... gross). Most fashion editorials are showing the look done as biker chic or metalchic. This however poses a great dilema for yours truly. How can i look pretty with all these spikes? I guess the key will be to pair lot's of black silk chiffon with it, footless tights with below the knee dresses and chunky black boots, for the evening an S&M heel works.
