John Currin has been one of my favorite painter ever since i discovered him about 6 years ago. His work has changed over the years, from his gigantic breast obsessed paintings to the pornographic scenes as of late. I love that his muse is his wife, Rachel Feinstein, an artist in her own right. It is unmistakable, her features continuously re-appear in his paintings. An old world beauty, which is interesting as his paintings remind me of the renaissance period where women's curves and shape were celebrated and adored. What i perhaps like the best is that he serves you up sex on a platter - there. In your face. In America, where most people do not talk about sexuality out in the open, it is refreshing to see an artist serve it up with gusto.
