SMALLCOMFORTS

I injured my back on monday... (it was already injured, but i decided to really throw it out of wack by going to spin class). I made an appointment for acupuncture for the first time... it definitely gave me a little release, but still.. i went to one of my favorite shops in Toronto on queen west to console myself with a late and decor mag, when i fell upon this. Needless to say, i was left gasping at a rapid pace staring at the object until i brought it up to the cash desk drooling (you might still be able to see some drool on it). I've decided that it will sleep with me from now on. It's wonderfully comfortable to hold on to (ahem, not to mention great for my back). Likey? Do you have any small comforts?

DITA

Dita Von Teese. Born Heather Renee Sweet. She chose the stage name Dita after old hollywood stars. Dita has been obsessed with all things old hollywood glamour for a long time. Let's admit it - she's a pretty classy broad. The woman strips down to her rhinestone pasties and still looks like a lady. Props to that methinks! Through practicing tighlacing and wearing corsets, Dita has been able to bring down her waist size to 16.5 inches in a corset - don't even ask me where the organs go... Once married to Marylin Manson, she's upgraded to Count Louis Marie de Castelbajac. Uh huh. He's a Count. He's smoking. He's 25..... and she's 37. Fucking A.

ALICEANDERSON

With her long red hair, artist Alice Anderson is instantly recognizable to contemporary art fanatics. Since 1999, she has been working on an ever evolving piece which centers around her own experiences as a child. Anderson often uses wax dolls and puppets to reinvent her childhood through the distortion of her own memories. She uses mediums such as films, blood drawings, sculpture and installations. One of my favorites is an installation called Rapunzel which features miles and miles of red hair mimicking the artists mane flowing throughout a room. More recently, Alice had Madame Toussauds replicate a small doll of the artist which has been used as of late in a number of projects.

This is still one of my all time favorite editorials i've ever laid eyes on. Have you seen Tim Burton's movie yet? I'm in the country this weekend, but looking forward to seeing it when i'm back in the city. Have a great weekend kittens! x
