TERRONI'S

Because i am starving and thinking about my stomach, i thought i'd write about one of my favorite spots since i've moved to the city.  If you live in Toronto and you've never been to Terroni's before (and trust me, such mortals exist) then you don't know what you're missing. Yeah they're nazis about the 'no cheese' policy on the seafood dishes, and yeah you feel like smacking someone when they won't bring you balsamic vinegar to put in the olive oil... but really - get over it.  Who cares?!  You're there for the food, and that's why i keep going back.  There's just something soothing and cozy about it, the aromas of the food and the loud bantering of the diner crowd just makes you feel happy.  Hipster servers only need apply, there's enough ink in that place to cover a football field.  Anyway - if you go, or if you're in town - try the following;
-funghi salad
-giugiolosa salad
-the cured meat and cheese platter
-parpadelle a la iosa

They've opened up a location in Los Angeles too!
Oh and don't order the above all at the same time because you'll never finish it.... little piggy!

LOVENOTEOFTHEWEEK

ANOUCKBERTIN

Anouck est une photographe qui habite a New York.  Elle me parrait tres sympa.  J'aimerais bien la connaitre.  I heard about her through a label i buy called Siwy.  She shot their latest campaign and it was very good.  Bravo Anouck!

MADEHERTHINK

I own a few pieces of jewelry by Meridith Khan, the talented jeweler behind the label Made Her Think.  Often, i visit her site and drool over her creations.  I have a penchant for slightly (ok not slightly) macabre, gothic, romantic pieces.  Not to mention her lookbooks, they are WORKS OF ART, really, you have to see it for yourself!  I was so sad when i lost the feathers which were attached to my black pearl crucifix with skull head... but i still wear the piece and always get remarks on it.  I need the canadian dollar to get stronger - fast.

SHOESANDSOCKS

Tis a strange fascination, but never fails to cast a spell on me...

NEWDIRECTION

I'm having a Tory Burch moment. I know. Weird. But while going through the Fall shows i was pleasantly surprised at the new direction in which the designer is going. Still a bit ladylike for me, but some good elements nonetheless no???? Who knows, maybe it's just a phase? Well i don't care, i'll take it, borrow ideas and call it my own. May develop obsession with white tights. Can i pull it off? Perhaps with a light taupe colored peep toe bootie? At the end of the day, it's not the label you wear, it's how YOU wear the label. That sounds really snooty. Let's just say that i'm a big believer that money doesn't buy style. Case in point, i get more comments about my vintage pieces than i do about the more expensive ones i own.

PERFORMANCEART

These are two of my favorite performance art shows that Vanessa Beecroft, the Italian artist, has ever done.  One because of the bright colors in which she uses, as we are mostly used to seeing her work done in neutrals, bi-color, or white.  Second because of the emotions i felt upon setting eyes on the tableau; shock, disgust, shame, anger, arousal, pride, exhilarated.
How often has a piece of art done that to you?
