LEEMILLER

I admire many women. I've posted about this topic before. Lee Miller was a model and muse to many great artists in the 1920's. She was able to survive an incident when she was young that could very well have scarred her for life. Exceptionally beautiful, smart and independent, she would count Picasso and Man Ray not only as lovers, but great friends. Not satisfied with the life of a model in Paris, she would go on to become the first woman war correspondent for American Vogue following the troops and documenting the harrowing brutality of war. Lee Miller was one of the first to enter the worst Nazi concentration camp and document what she saw for the readers back home. An experience that left her damaged for the rest of her life which would lead to an eventual lifelong battle with alcoholism and her eventual death. In the meantime, she still managed to fall in love a few times, live in the desert, have a baby and write a cookbook. Perhaps not all in that order. She is one of the most riveting women i have ever read about. Here are some photos of her in her modeling days, a shot of her in Hitler's bath (soon after he abandoned ship), as well as some of her photography showing just how talented she was.

**ADDENDUM - unfortunately the folks at leemillerarchives.co.uk have asked me to remove all the photos from my post. Please don't let this discourage you from learning more about this amazing woman.**

  1. She was something else. Indeed. I've read that the shot in Hitler's bath was quite controversial.

By the way, Muse, you really are a wonderful muse! I love that you love what I love . . . or vice versa, I love what you love.

    Great post! Thank you.
