ZIEGFELDGIRLS

Based on the Folies Bergère of Paris, The Ziegfeld Follies were elaborate theatrical productions on Broadway in New York City from 1907 through 1931, which were created by Florenz Ziegfeld. Hence why the many famous beauties of the chorus became known as the Ziegfeld girls. These showgirls were admired by many and some would also go on to become famous stars such as Marion Davies and Louise Brooks. Some were also fortunate enough to marry wealthy gentleman of New York society.... i wonder why.... ahem.... Don't you just love these?!
ps - the first shot is of Drew Barrymore's grandmother.... how COOL is that?

  3. Gorgeous girls & beautiful photographs. Drew Barrymore?!? She is still a siren, isn't she? Must be in the genes then... I sometimes wonder what became of the ones that didn't manage to pick up a wealthy husband. Dancing careers tend to be rather short. Sabine x
